Senator Oliveira presents $100,000 to Belcher Elementary School from the Chicopee Delegation

Chicopee, MA — On Tuesday, Senator Jake Oliveira (D-Ludlow) presented Chicopee Public Schools Superintendent Marcus Ware and Belcher Elementary School Principal Samuel Karlin a ceremonial check of $100,000 from the Chicopee Delegation for HVAC upgrades at Belcher Elementary. The funds, secured through the Fair Share supplemental budget, will modernize Belcher Elementary's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, helping to provide a healthier and more comfortable learning environment for Chicopee students and educators.

"Schools are at the heart of our communities, and it's vital that we ensure they are safe, supportive, and equipped to meet the needs of students," said Senator Oliveira. "When our children can focus on learning instead of the temperature in the classroom, when our educators have the tools and environment they need to teach, and when families know their school buildings are cared for, our entire community benefits. I'm proud to deliver these funds for Chicopee and to stand with our educators, parents, and students."

"On behalf of the Chicopee Public Schools, I'd like to thank Senator Oliveira and Representative Arriaga for leading this effort in securing $100,000 for HVAC upgrades at Belcher School," said Chicopee Public Schools Superintendent Marcus Ware. "Our staff, students, and families are happy that we are recipients of a gift that focuses on our physical well-being. I cannot express how appreciative we are again in receiving this award. Thank you!"

"We're grateful for Senator Oliveira's efforts in securing $100,000 for HVAC upgrades at Belcher School," said Chicopee Mayor John L. Vieau. "This funding not only supports our capital improvement plan for our schools but also helps Belcher immensely by providing a more comfortable and safer environment for the students, faculty, and staff. Thank you once again, Senator Oliveira."

Senator Oliveira was joined by fellow elected officials, including State Representative Shirley Arriaga, the office of Senator John Velis, and members of the Chicopee City Council and School Committee, to highlight the collaborative effort to prioritize education and infrastructure in the city of Chicopee.

The $100,000 allocation is part of a broader effort by Senator Oliveira and the Massachusetts Legislature to utilize Fair Share revenues for public education, infrastructure, and community needs throughout the Commonwealth.
