Rick’s Place Invites Community to Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at New Location

“No child should have to grieve alone.”

Wilbraham, MA – Rick’s Place, a grief support center for children, teens, and their families, is pleased to announce its move to a new home at 35 Post Office Park in Wilbraham. To mark this meaningful milestone, Rick’s Place invites community members, supporters, and neighbors to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 18, 2026, and learn more about the organization’s mission and impact.

Rick’s Place provides support through facilitated peer activities, school-based programs, and community outreach. Its mission is to create a trusted environment where children, teens, and families grieving the loss of someone significant can share experiences, receive support, and find connection. Centered on comfort, resilience, and connection, Rick’s Place helps grieving children and families grow stronger together.

Originally founded in 2007 as an initiative of the Rick Thorpe Memorial Fund, Rick’s Place was inspired by the desire to honor the memory of Rick Thorpe, a young father and Wilbraham native who tragically lost his life in the World Trade Center attacks on September 11th, 2001.

At Rick’s Place, laughter and sadness can coexist, creating a safe, compassionate space where children and families can remember loved ones while finding comfort in community. Through peer support programs and educational initiatives, Rick’s Place helps families better understand grief and reminds every child that they do not have to face it alone.

Join us on June 18 to celebrate this new chapter for Rick’s Place and learn more about the work taking place every day in support of youth and families who are grieving. Guests will have the opportunity to meet board members and staff, connect with the community, and experience the compassion and hope that define Rick’s Place.
