Springfield, MA - Monson Savings Bank has donated $3,000 to Wellspring Community Harvest’s Go Fresh Mobile Market, which brings fresh, locally grown produce directly to Springfield neighborhoods. The contribution was made through the Bank’s Together for Food Security campaign.

Go Fresh delivers fresh local produce to senior housing sites, low-income housing complexes, healthcare centers, and community organizations across Springfield. Customers can use SNAP and Healthy Incentives Program benefits, helping make fruits and vegetables more affordable while bringing a farmers market directly to locations where transportation and limited nearby grocery options can restrict fresh food access.

By operating as a mobile farmers market, Go Fresh helps address both geographic and economic barriers to nutritious food. The program also creates community-based outlets for regionally grown products, supporting local agriculture while connecting Springfield residents with healthy options.

“Food access is not only about whether food exists. It is also about whether people can reach and afford nutritious options,” said Dan Moriarty, President and CEO of Monson Savings Bank. “Go Fresh reduces those barriers by taking fresh, local produce directly into Springfield neighborhoods.”

The donation is one of several contributions made through Together for Food Security, a campaign supporting organizations that address food insecurity at different points in the local food system. Go Fresh adds a mobile-market model to that effort, alongside support for neighborhood pantries, food rescue, urban agriculture, and regional distribution.

“Bringing fresh produce directly into neighborhoods makes healthy food more accessible and affordable for Springfield residents,” said Riley Gilroy, Program Director of Go-Fresh Mobile Market. “We appreciate this support for a mobile market designed around access, dignity, and community health.”
