52 Sumner’s December and January Lineup is Filled with Community Celebration and Powerful Performanc

Springfield, Mass. – 52 Sumner, the vibrant arts and entertainment venue operated by Springfield Performing Arts Ventures Inc., is ushering in the winter season with a festive and engaging lineup of events for December and January. This historic venue, located in Springfield’s Forest Park neighborhood, has become a welcoming space where music, theater, and community connection thrive. 
 
Guests can look forward to a dynamic mix of holiday celebration, classic storytelling, enchanting music, and an inspiring new musical to begin the new year.
 
Upcoming events include:
 

  • Jingle and Mingle Holiday Party – this Tuesday, December 9
  • The holiday season kicks off with a spirited multi chamber event hosted in partnership with the Westfield Chamber, West of the River Chamber, and Chicopee Chamber. Attendees will enjoy festive refreshments, lively conversation, and the warmth of community as regional professionals come together to celebrate the season.
 
  • The Christmas Carol – Saturday, December 13 (afternoon performance)
  • A cherished holiday tradition arrives at 52 Sumner with a performance of A Christmas Carol. Guests will experience the timeless Charles Dickens story brought to life through heartfelt acting and a nostalgic atmosphere that captures the meaning and magic of the season.
 
  • Candlelight Christmas Carols on Strings – Friday, December 19 (two showtimes)
  • This elegant and intimate concert surrounds audiences with the glow of candlelight as talented musicians perform beautiful string arrangements of beloved Christmas carols. With its serene ambiance and moving musicality, this is expected to be a seasonal favorite for guests of all ages.
 
  • For Love! For Liberty! A New Musical About General Knox – Sunday, January 18, 2026 (two showtimes)
  • Looking ahead to January, 52 Sumner is proud to present an original musical that blends history, storytelling, and powerful performance. Produced by Springfield Community Theater of MA, this production explores the life and legacy of General Henry Knox through compelling narrative, memorable characters, and an inspiring score.

After major renovations of this historic church, the venue now known as 52 Sumner, opened at the end of 2023; and since has infused new life into its historic surroundings. Today, the venue stands as a symbol of artistic expression and community pride, offering world class performances supported by state of the art sound and lighting.

About SPAV and 52 Sumner:  Springfield Performing Arts Ventures Inc., is a nonprofit organization that uses 52 Sumner as its performance and event venue. This new venue found its home in a portion of Faith United Church, a 125-year-old landmark that had recently come on the market amid declining church membership in Springfield, MA.
