Springfield, Mass. – 52 Sumner, the vibrant arts and entertainment venue operated by Springfield Performing Arts Ventures Inc., continues its 2026 season with an exciting winter lineup that blends original theater, intimate candlelight concerts, and beloved tribute performances. Located in Springfield’s Forest Park neighborhood, the historic venue remains a gathering place where artistry, music, and community connection come together. From an original musical rooted in American history to an audience favorite tribute show returning by popular demand, the upcoming schedule offers something for theater lovers, music enthusiasts, and the broader community alike.
 
Upcoming events include:
 
  • For Love! For Liberty! A New Musical About General Knox – Sunday, January 18 (two showtimes)
  • Produced by Springfield Community Theater of MA, this original musical brings history to life through powerful storytelling and an inspiring score. The production explores the life and legacy of General Henry Knox, blending patriotism, personal sacrifice, and artistic expression in a compelling theatrical experience.
 
  • Candlelight: Valentine’s Day Show – Friday, February 13 at 6:00 p.m.
  • This romantic evening features an intimate candlelit setting paired with moving musical selections, creating a warm and memorable Valentine’s Day experience for couples and music lovers alike.
 
  • Candlelight: Tribute to Taylor Swift – Friday, February 13, 2026 at 8:30 p.m.
  • Swifties are invited to experience the music they love in a whole new light. Set within a sea of candlelight, this elegant concert reimagines Taylor Swift’s iconic songs through lush instrumental arrangements, creating an evening that is equal parts magical, nostalgic, and unforgettable.
 
  • Big Yellow Taxi: A Tribute to Joni Mitchell – Saturday, February 21, 2026
  • Returning by popular request, this acclaimed tribute honors the timeless music and poetic storytelling of Joni Mitchell. The performance has become a favorite among audiences for its authenticity, musicianship, and emotional resonance.
 
  • Whammer Jammer: Boston’s Own Tribute to The J. Geils Band – Saturday, February 28, 2026
  • Closing out the winter lineup is this high energy tribute celebrating the iconic sound and spirit of The J. Geils Band. Audiences can expect an evening filled with classic hits, infectious energy, and a true rock and roll experience.

About SPAV and 52 Sumner:  Springfield Performing Arts Ventures Inc., is a nonprofit organization that uses 52 Sumner as its performance and event venue. This new venue found its home in a portion of Faith United Church, a 125-year-old landmark that had recently come on the market amid declining church membership in Springfield, MA.
